Westminster Dredging
Location: Segensworth, Hampshire
Contract type: Design and build
Project Duration: 12 weeks
Brief: Westminster Dredging needed to create a more communicative working environment for its staff. The existing two-storey building consisted of cellular offices, which meant employees often had to go from room to room to talk to one another about projects. In addition, the masses of walled spaces within the office made the interior seem drab and dull. Brazier Interiors was briefed to completely redesign the office to provide a more light, open working space that would be inviting as well as more efficient for inter-office communication.
Project description and implementation: Following a highly-competitive six-way tender, Brazier Interiors’ design plan was chosen by Westminster Dredging.
The cellular offices were knocked down and glass walling erected in order to create an open-plan environment and retain natural light coming in through the windows, brightening up the space.
The boardroom was fitted out with SMART systems and new furniture and neutral colours were used to create a more relaxed environment for client meetings.
Fun break out areas were created for staff, with a break out bar installed so employees could use their laptops during their breaks. The kitchen was renovated and the tired fixtures and fittings replaced with more modern alternatives. Clusters of brightly coloured, ergonomically designed chairs finished the break out areas and injected fun and comfort into the zones.
